ACCESSIBILITY
We want everyone to be able to use and interact with the XES – We Can’t Go Backwards campaign website.
The information on this page is to help make your visit to the site as simple as possible.
We are always looking for ways to improve the website. If you have difficulty in accessing any part of the website, or have any other feedback or suggestions, please contact us.
TEXT
The information on our site should be clear and simple to understand. We aim to use plain English at all times.
Where possible we have used Lato font, a plain font that is easy to read on screen.
We have made sure that the text and background colours contrast so text is easy to read.
CHANGE TEXT SIZE
To increase or decrease the text size you can use the appropriate option in your browser.
- PC and Internet Explorer 7, 8 or 9: From the menu bar select View > Zoom OR hold down the CTRL key, then press + to increase text size and – to decrease.
- PC and other browsers: Hold down the CTRL key, then press + to increase text size and – to decrease.
- Mac and all browsers: Hold down the Command key, then press + to increase text size and – to decrease.

PDF DOCUMENTS
Occasionally, some information on this website might be available only in PDF format. To view a PDF you will need to have Adobe Reader. You can download Adobe Reader for free.
We aim to make sure all PDF files are accessible to screen readers or offer a plain text alternative.
VIDEOS
We aim to add captions to all the videos made by the XES campaign. Where captions are already available it will say so. Unfortunately we have no control over videos uploaded by other people.
If captions are available you can turn them on or off when the video is playing. To do this, click the ‘upwards arrow’ button in the bottom right hand corner of the video player. Then click the ‘CC’ button to turn the captions on or off.
Videos made by us are also hosted on our YouTube channel . If you do not use a mouse you might find Easy YouTube or Accessible Interface to YouTube helpful for accessing our videos.
MY WEB MY WAY
The BBC website My Web My Way has lots of useful information on how you can alter any website to suit your preferences.
STANDARDS
Our website has been built using code that complies with W3C standards for HTML5 and CSS3.
We aim to meet the AA level of accessibility set out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) (version 2.0).
In any areas where we do not currently meet the guidelines we are working towards them. Occassionally it might not be possible to meet all guidelines in all areas of the website, for example some features provided by third parties might not meet all guidelines. We are happy to hear suggestions for more accessible alternatives to any features on our website.
